Abstract  Industrial prosperity is the key to China's Rural Revitalization Strategy. The commodification of rural spaceis the main driving force of the transformation of rural spatial production. Its concept emphasizes the restructuring of rural economy. It meets the requirements of theory and practice to study the rural development through commodification of rural space. However, at present, there is a lack of research on the basic theory, implementation path andpossible problems in the framework of rural space commodification. In this paper, through theoretical analysis, literature review and policy interpretation, supplemented by ArcGIS spatial analysis, using multiple sets of data, we have a more in-depth analysis and exploration of the theoretical basis and implementation path of rural spatial commodification. The purpose of this paper is:1)In order to support the commodification of rural space, we have sorted out the development of western rural geography theory. Then, we point out that the future of rural space commodification research should actively verify the universality of the above theories, and apply these theories to explain the phenomenon of rural space commodification.2)Based on the concept and connotation of rural space commodification, we synthesize the practice and theory of this research direction, refer to the development mode of related research direction, and put forward a variety of paths to realize rural space commodification. This paper discusses four paths including primary agricultural products production, their relationship with rural spatial commodification and their distribution characteristics in China, and briefly describes the characteristics of three paths including urban development areas. 3) Offer a proposal. In practice study, we should firmly grasp the key subjects of the restructuring of rural elements and catch the problems that may arise in the process of commodification in time. Avoid the trap of "diversifying livelihoods into single livelihoods". Always guard against putting the protection of the basic rights and interests of farmers'land in an urgent position, so as to reserve the final way out for the farmers who fail to enter the city and return home.
